The proposed Genesee 4 & 5 combined cycle natural gas-fired generation facility is a joint venture project between Capital Power and ENMAX.
The project has received all regulatory approvals required from the Alberta Utilities Commission and Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development. The project will have a nominal generation capacity of 1,060 megawatts.
In December 2012, Capital Power and ENMAX Corporation signed a joint agreement to build, own, and operate the 800-MW Shepard Energy Centre in Calgary, Alberta.
Construction of the combined-cycle natural-gas facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2014 with commercial operations expected in the first quarter of 2015. Learn more about the project.
