York Energy Centre Upgrades Project
Capital Power and its partner Manulife are proposing equipment upgrades at the York Energy Centre (YEC). The upgrades will provide operational flexibility and approximately 38MW of additional generation capacity depending on ambient temperature. The project was submitted to Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) through the Same Technology Upgrades Solicitation.
York – Battery Energy Storage System
Capital Power and its partner Manulife are proposing a battery energy storage system (BESS) installation that would provide up to 120 megawatts (MW) of power storage, with electrical energy output for up to four-hours. The project would be located on a separate parcel of land owned by Capital Power, adjacent to the existing York Energy Centre (YEC).
Goreway – Battery Energy Storage System
Capital Power is proposing a battery energy storage system (BESS) installation at the Goreway Power Station (GPS) that would provide up to 50 MW of power storage, with electrical energy output for up to four-hours. The project would be located within the footprint of the existing GPS.

Genesee Generating Station 3
The 525 MW Genesee 3 unit is 100% natural gas fueled. It has clean air technologies that include fabric filters that stop 99.8% of particulate matter from reaching the atmosphere and a flue gas desulphurization unit that brings sulphur dioxide (SO2) emissions well below the provincial emission standard.
Clover Bar Landfill Gas
Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Clover Bar Landfill Gas is the only facility in the province which recovers landfill gas and uses it to generate renewable energy.
Halkirk 1 Wind
Halkirk 1 Wind is located on approximately 25,000 acres of private land in Paintearth County No. 18 (40 KM east of Stettler in east-central Alberta).  Power generated at this facility is sold into Alberta’s electricity spot market.
