Powering Change in our Communities

We’re proud to be an active community member as we’re Powering Change by Changing Power™. Guided by causes that matter to our employees, we’re committed to making a meaningful impact in the communities where we live and work. Through ongoing engagement, we seek to understand community priorities, build relationships, and create positive, lasting impacts that increase vibrancy, wellbeing and overall sustainability.

Through this, we’ve identified three impact areas we’re committed to supporting with the goal of helping to build healthy communities.

Climate Action

Leading action, education and the implementation of technologies and practices that will strengthen the long-term resiliency of communities in the face of climate change.

Equity and Opportunity

Increasing equity, access and opportunity for all, and creating safe, welcoming, and diverse spaces.

Wellbeing

Building healthy communities where everyone can thrive.

Understanding well-rounded support doesn’t happen with one initiative, cause, or donation, our investment in communities is long-term and diverse, aiming to provide an ongoing, meaningful impact to as many people as possible.

2024 Community Support Highlights

Family Recreation

We believe in building strong communities where facilities and services can be accessed by all.

We sponsor free family access to recreation facilities in several of our operational communities, allowing thousands of families to get active together.

In 2024, we supported McDonough County, District of Tumbler Ridge, City of Brampton and the Valley Ski Club in Castor to provide affordable recreation to families.

Summer Reading Programs

Literacy and proper education are essential to ensure all children can build a bright future of their choice.
We support summer reading programs in our operational communities that offer free programming designed to support children’s literacy skills and development.

In 2024, we supported public libraries in Haldimand County, Foremost, Bow Island, Warren County and Tumbler Ridge to run their free summer programming.

Discovery Education STEM Careers Coalition

Since 2021, we’ve proudly partnered with Discovery Education’s STEM Careers CoalitionTM to bring together educators, students, and industry leaders, educating millions of young minds in STEM fields.

In October 2024, they celebrated the incredible milestone of reaching 10 million students through their programming!

Community Celebrations

We help communities honour their unique diversity and culture through our support of events and celebrations.

In 2024, we supported Pow Wows and Treaty Day celebrations in the communities of our Indigenous neighbours as well as Canada Day and 4th of July celebrations in many of our operational communities.

Empowering Grassroots Initiatives

In 2023, we announced our Community Sustainability Fund, a North America-wide program supporting grassroots projects that enhance sustainability and benefit our communities with grants of up to $20,000. Since then, we’ve partnered with 40 groups, providing over $600,000 to power their innovative climate action projects.
