Steve Wollin
Steve Wollin is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of approximately 12 GW of power generation capacity across North America. His scope includes operations, construction, engineering, supply chain, and health, safety, security, and environment, as well as the reliability and plant‑efficiency programs that underpin industry‑leading availability and ongoing emissions reductions across the fleet.
Previously, Steve served as Vice President, Thermal Operations East and Renewables, where he oversaw the addition and integration of more than 3,000 MW of assets into Capital Power’s portfolio. He established the Capital Power Data and Operations Centre, providing 24/7, fleet‑wide support across data analytics, condition‑based monitoring, remote operations, dispatch and settlement services, turnaround planning, and acquisition due diligence and integration.
Earlier, he held the role of Vice President, Engineering, where he founded the Capital Power Reliability Program, which continues to play a significant role in strengthening fleet performance, improving availability, and embedding disciplined reliability practices across the organization.
Steve is recognized for a practical, systems‑focused leadership approach rooted in operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and contributes to industry and community leadership through service with the Alberta Reliability Council and Hope Mission.
After 25 years of outstanding service and leadership, Steve is retiring on July 1. He will stay on until the end of 2026 in an advisory role to support a smooth transition.
