Jason Comandante
Jason Comandante oversees the risk management and optimization of Capital Power’s North American commodity portfolio, including power, natural gas, and environmental products. This includes the consistent delivery of trading driven value creation, development and execution of Capital Power’s long‑term hedging strategy and cultivation of customer relationships to unlock synergies through end‑user‑focused solutions. In addition, Jason is accountable for the balanced energy solutions team, which is dedicated to addressing the data centre customer class.
With Capital Power since its IPO, Jason has held progressive leadership roles spanning commodity trading, corporate strategy, regulatory affairs, construction and commercial management. He has led major capital projects exceeding $1 billion, including the repowering of the Genesee Generating Station from coal to 100% natural gas, establishing a new benchmark for efficiency and emissions reduction in Canada.
Jason brings a strong understanding of how markets, assets, and customer needs fit together, allowing him to navigate complex environments and deliver solutions that manage risk and support long‑term value.
He holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Commerce from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary and is actively engaged in industry and community leadership through participation on several energy and business boards.
