Completing Your Sign-On Package - as easy as 1-2-3!

The following are the supporting documents to the forms you must sign off on in your offer of employment package sent via DocuSign. Your offer of employment package must be completed in full and submitted to the People Shared Services via DocuSign no later than the date specified in your offer of employment email. If you are unable to complete this entire process, there will be a delay in your pay and benefits enrollment..

Step 1 – Identification Verification

Please provide the following personal documents:

1.1 Attach a copy of your social insurance card to your DocuSign offer of employment package –In the absence of a SIN card, we will only accept Proof of Income Statement from the Canadian Revenue Agency. Please note that we require all numbers to be visible when uploading these details.

1.2 Attach a copy of valid government photo ID to your DocuSign offer of employment package.

1.3 Email a photo to Security for your Employee ID Badge – Please provide a photo with the following specifications:

Step 2 – Complete the following forms

2.1 Please review the following Capital Power policies and documents. During your first day at Capital Power, you will receive access to Workday, Capital Power’s HR Information System. In Workday, you will receive an onboarding task requesting you to acknowledge that you read and understood all the policies and documents listed below.

2.2 In order to verify your banking information you will need to complete the Direct Deposit Authorization Form and attach a copy of a Void Cheque to your DocuSign Offer of Employment Package.

2.3 Your TD-1 Information will need to be completed and attached to your DocuSign Offer of Employment Package. Should you require TD-1 Worksheets for your personal use please see them listed below.

​2.4 Defined Contribution Pension Plan

You will be automatically enrolled into Sun Life Financials’ Defined Contribution Pension Plan. Within approximately two weeks of your start date, you will receive your plan welcome letter in the mail, which will include your login information for MySunLife where you will be able to make your investment selections. For questions or information regarding investment options or financial advice, please review the “My Money Guide: Savings Plan and Pension Information” in the Savings Plan section  below or contact a Sun Life Licensed Financial Service Consultant at 1-866-292-3664 any business day between 8:00 am – 6:00 pm ET.

2.5 Savings Plan

Once you receive your welcome letter from Sun Life Financial, you will have the opportunity to enroll in the Capital Power Savings Plan by logging in to MySunLife. To understand more about the savings plan or to get assistance enrolling, please review the “My Money Guide: Savings Plan and Pension Information” or contact a Sun Life Licensed Financial Service Consultant at 1-866-292-3364 any business day between 8 am – 6 pm ET.

2.6 Benefits Information

As a permanent employee, please take some time to review the following documents regarding your benefits.

2.7 General Information

Generosity:

  • Our Generosity matched giving program recognizes your charitable community donations by providing an unlimited match when you donate to a registered North American charity. Access your match any time for any amount all year. All eligible donations must be to registered charities in North America (i.e. no unregistered associations or GoFundMe). Visit the Intranet to apply for your match.

Paid Volunteer Time:

  • Permanent employees are eligible for up to 8 hours of paid volunteer time each calendar year for volunteering in the community. Employees can access this time to volunteer during regular working hours. For facility employees requiring shift coverage, your Paid Volunteer Time can be accessed on your own time. Time is coded in Workday. Visit our Intranet page to found out more details.

After Hours Personal Development Program:

  • Permanent employees are able to participate in our After Hours Personal Development Program, which can be used to fund a wide variety of learning and development opportunities. Here are a few highlights of our program:
    • Funding is available for each program year
    • Full-time Employees – up to $3,000 (US currency)
    • Part-time employees – up to $1,500 (US currency)
  • Eligible Expenses are: course fees, materials (i.e., books), study aids, tests.
  • Learning must be at an accredited post-secondary institution or through a professional association.
  • These courses are to be completed during your personal time.
  • Employee must have completed and passed the course prior to requesting reimbursement.

Step 3 – Return Complete Sign-on Package

All forms must be completed and attached in DocuSign no later than the deadline specified in your offer of employment email.

Once the documents are completed and submitted, to Capital Power People Shared Services will automatically receive an email from DocuSign with your completed documentation.

Step 4 – Workday Onboarding Activities

One week prior to your start date with Capital Power, you will be able to log into our Human Resources Information Systems, Workday. Here you can action on completing all your onboarding activities prior to your first day. If the onboarding activities aren’t completed by the end of your first week, you may experience a delay in your pay and benefits enrollment.
