Capital Power is pleased to support the Alberta Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service Foundation (STARS). Beginning in 2010, Capital Power entered into a three-year agreement to support STARS Critical Care & Transport Medicine Academy.

Critical care and transport medicine has its own unique set of highly specialized skills and competencies. Through this innovative education and training opportunity, vital health care education is delivered to both rural and urban medical professionals wanting to develop the specialized skills in critical care and transport medicine.

Capital Power believes in the value of STARS’ life-saving capabilities and its ability to provide critical emergency medical transportation and care to communities throughout Alberta—including those locations where Capital Power has operations and where Capital Power employees and families live.

In June 2011,Capital Power Corporation President & CEO, Brian Vaasjo, a long-time advocate of STARS,  became the STARS chair after serving as a board member for several years.
