GODERICH, ON and EDMONTON – Capital Power Corporation (TSX: CPX) and Capital Power LP (collectively, “Capital Power”), Samsung Renewable Energy Inc., a subsidiary of Samsung C&T (“Samsung”), and Pattern Energy Group LP (“Pattern”) (collectively referred to as “the partners”) are proud to stand with neighbours affected by the August 21st tornado, by contributing $150,000 to support rebuilding efforts in Goderich. As a result of government matching, the partners’ donation will result in a combined contribution of $450,000 to the Goderich and Area Disaster Relief Fund. The partners are developing the 270 megawatt (MW) K2 Wind Power Project (“K2”) (formerly known as Kingsbridge II).

“Capital Power applauds the community members of Goderich and the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh (ACW) for their spirit and determination to restore the damage caused by the recent tornado,” said Paul Wendelgass, Director of Business Development for Capital Power. “With our existing Kingsbridge I operations and employees who live and work in the area, Capital Power has a longstanding connection to the community and we are proud to support its restoration efforts.”

The Government of Ontario has announced that it will match each donation on a two-for-one basis so that each $1 donated to disaster relief turns into $3.

Donations can be made to the Goderich Disaster Relief fund by phoning town hall at 519-524-8344 or by sending a donation to the fund at Goderich Disaster Relief Fund, 57 West Street, Goderich, Ont. N7A 2K5. The Goderich and Area Disaster Relief Committee will expand with the addition of members from the Township of ACW and Central Huron, areas that also sustained substantial damage and were declared disaster areas.
