Terra Centre "Many Hands" Award

In the spring of 2018, Capital Power received the “Many Hands” award from the Terra Centre, in recognition of the 550 care kits that Capital Power employees assembled at volunteer events in the fall of 2017 and February 2018. These kids contained essential products to help support the babies and young parents at the centre.

IABC Gold Quill Awards

In June of 2016, Capital Power received the international “Gold Quill” award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). The award recognizes the excellence in employee communication during the launch of our GENerosity program in the fall of 2015.

Annual Mayor's Celebration of the Arts

The Mayor's Celebration of the Arts honours outstanding Edmonton supporters of the arts and professional artists that excel in their fields.

Capital Power was honoured to have been nominated three years in a row by the Art Gallery of Alberta for a Mayor's Celebration of the Arts Award for Sustained Support of the Arts for our Capital Powered Art series and excited to have received the Award in 2014.

The annual event is presented by Mayor Don Iveson and the Professional Arts Coalition of Alberta. 

National Philanthropy Day Award

The National Philanthropy Awards are presented annually by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Foundation for Philanthropy. The annual awards celebrate the philanthropic achievements of individuals and organizations in the community.

Capital Power was nominated in 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011 and 2010 for a National Philanthropy Day Award:

  • 2017 for its support of the Food Bank Huron Carole and for supporting the Bissell Centre Holiday Giveaway program
  • 2016 for its support of the University of Alberta David and Joan Lynch School of Engineering Safety and Risk Management (ESRM)
  • 2015 for its three-year Season Sponsorship of the Citadel Theatre
  • 2014 for its continued support of Edmonton Eskimos Military Appreciation Night as well as the University Hospital Foundation's Festival of Trees
  • 2012 for its corporate philanthropy in supporting STARS' Cricial Care and Transport Medicine Academy
  • 2011 for its sponsorship of the University of Alberta's Festival of Ideas
  • 2010 for its unique Capital PowerED Art program at the Art Gallery of Alberta
