Annual Mayor's Celebration of the Arts

The Mayor's Celebration of the Arts honours outstanding Edmonton supporters of the arts and professional artists that excel in their fields.

Capital Power was hononoured to have been nominated three years in a row by the Art Gallery of Alberta for a Mayor's Celebration of the Arts Award for Sustained Support of the Arts for our Capital Powered Art series and excited to have received the Award in 2014.

The annual event is presented by Mayor Don Iveson and the Professional Arts Coalition of Alberta. 

Propellus Volunteer Awards

In 2014, Capital Power was nominated for an Employee Volunteering Award in the category of Outstanding Employee Volunteer programs.  The Employee Volunteering Award recognizes businesses that demonstrate success in developing and implementing an employee volunteer program that is supported at all levels in the organization. Nominees in this category exemplify social responsibility through leadership and innovation in their efforts to promote employee volunteerism.

National Philanthropy Day Award

The National Philanthropy Awards are presented annually by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Foundation for Philanthropy. The annual awards celebrate the philanthropic achievements of individuals and organizations in the community.

Capital Power was nominated in 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011 and 2010 for a National Philanthropy Day Award:

  • 2015 for its three-year Season Sponsorship of the Citadel Theatre
  • 2014 for its continued support of Edmonton Eskimos Military Appreciation Night as well as the University Hospital Foundation's Festival of Trees
  • 2012 for its corporate philanthropy in supporting STARS' Cricial Care and Transport Medicine Academy
  • 2011 for its sponsorship of the University of Alberta's Festival of Ideas
  • 2010 for its unique Capital PowerED Art program at the Art Gallery of Alberta

United Way of the Alberta Capital Region

In recognition of Capital Power’s 2013 United Way campaign, United Way of the Alberta Capital Region nominated Capital Power for two Awards of Distinction: Outstanding Campaign Committee, and Employee Campaign Chair of the Year, Private Sector. Capital Power won the award for the Employee Campaign Chair of the Year, Private Sector.

In 2012, Capital Power was nominated for Campaign Special Event of the Year as well as Employee Campaign Chair of the Year, Private Sector.

Quantum Leap Award

The Quantum Leap Award recognizes an organization that follows United Way best practices, attends orientation sessions, demonstrates spirit and commitment to their campaign and shows significant increases in dollars and participation.

In 2011, Capital Power received the Quantum Leap Award for its campaign in the Edmonton and Genesee Region.
