This site contains information pertaining to receiving and accepting your offer letter, as well as information related to onboarding activities that must be completed once you are cleared for hire. Receiving and Accepting your Offer

Step 1 – Review Benefit Information

1.1 For a comprehensive look at Capital Power’s benefit plans, please take time to review Capital Power’s Benefits Summary. Additional information pertaining to benefits can be found in the “Completing your Onboarding Activities” section of this site. Please review before signing your offer.

Step 2 – Background Checks and Pre-Employment Testing

2.1 After signing and submitting your offer and identification verification information, you will receive an email from Certn Applications requesting you to complete an online form for your background check. Background checks may include the following depending on your role:

  • Criminal Record Check
  • Education Verification
  • Credential Verification
  • Credit Check
  • References

2.2 If you are entering a safety sensitive position, you will be required to undergo drug testing. Information related to your testing will be contained in your offer letter if applicable. After signing and submitting your offer, you will receive an email with details to schedule your pre-employment testing.

Completing your Onboarding Activities (Post Cleared for Hire)

Congratulations and welcome to the Capital Power team! To ensure we are fully ready for your arrival, please complete and/or review the tasks below by the date specified in your Cleared for hire email. If you are unable to complete this entire process, there will be a delay in your pay and benefits enrollment.

Step 1 – Identification

1.1 Email a photo to [email protected] for your Employee ID Badge – Please provide a photo with the following specifications:

  • Guidelines for Employee-provided Photos 
    • Security will create your employee ID badge and send it either to a) your assigned site if you are a hybrid worker or b) direct to your home address if you are fully remote

Step 2 – Workday Onboarding Activities

2.1 One week prior to your start date with Capital Power, you will be able to log into our Human Resources Information Systems, Workday. Here you can action on completing all your onboarding activities prior to your first day. If the onboarding activities aren’t completed by the end of your first week, you may experience a delay in your pay.

Workday Onboarding Activities will include the following:

  • 2.1.1 Policy Review and Acknowledgment – Acknowledge that you have read and understood the policies and documents and complete the required sign off.
  • 2.1.2 Update Personal Information, Contact Information, and Emergency Contacts
  • 2.1.3 Edit Government IDs; this step includes verifying your social security number
  • 2.1.4 Benefits- Make benefit elections in Workday. Please note new hires have 14 days from date of hire to enroll or opt out of company benefits.

Step 3 – I9 Verification Information

3.1 At least three days prior to your start date you will receive an email from E Verify prompting you to complete your I 9 form. Please complete the form before your first day of employment and bring original copy(ies) of your identification for verification on your first day of employment.

  • 3.1.1 Please review the “Acceptable Documents” guide for acceptable forms of ID for the I9 verification process.

Step 4- Payroll and Tax Information

4.1 Once your Onboarding Tasks in Workday and I9 form are completed, you will be able to log into ADP. Capital Power uses ADP to manage tax forms (W2s and W4s) along with direct deposit information. ADP Log In information will be provided by Payroll after your first day. It is important that your W4 elections and direct deposit information completed by the end of your first week, to prevent any delay in your pay.
