Employee Views

Capital Power is a great company for people just starting their careers. The learning curve is steep, with proportional rewards for people like myself, an engineer-in-training who is working his way up. The people are great, the experience is great, and my job is dynamic, with interesting challenges and problems to solve every day.”

- Leigh Gendron, E.I.T., Environmental and Performance Engineer, Genesee Generating Station

Capital Power has ambitious growth plans, with a goal to reach 10,000 megawatts of capacity by 2020. A core component of our plan to achieve this goal is our commitment to our employees.

Investing in people by providing the best training, resources, and development opportunities is a critical part of our human resources strategy. We aim to help our people be fully engaged, productive, and satisfied with their day-to-day work and career potential.

We strive to create a culture that promotes continual learning and personal development that benefits both the employee and Capital Power.

From technical training to personal development, Capital Power provides a number of programs and tools to help you excel in your current position and prepare for your next one.

Capital Power School of Business

Capital Power School of Business is a foundational initiative for a strong learning and development culture. Core programs and courses such as leadership development and professional business skills will be offered.

Strong Start Orientation and On-Boarding Program
At Capital Power, we take our success seriously. Strong Start is one of our programs designed to ensure that we engage and enable our employees. It’s innovative, interactive, online and developed to set up our employees for success from their first day of employment.

After Hours Personal Development
The After Hours Personal Development Program helps employees fund their certificates, diplomas, degrees or individual courses. Employees can pursue learning and development directly related to their current job, or other courses indirectly related to their job.
