Facility Information

Capital Power’s first solar project, Beaufort Solar, began commercial operations on December 22, 2015. The 15 MW solar facility is located on private land near Chocowinity in Beaufort County, in eastern North Carolina. Beaufort Solar has a 15-year Power Purchase Arrangement with Duke Energy Progress, LLC.

The project utilizes a fixed-tilt ground mounting solar system meaning it remains stationary rather than moving to track the sun. It’s comprised of 66,690 315-watt photovoltaic solar panels manufactured by Canadian Solar.
