Our power is our team. Our employees are the reason we have been recognized as one of Canada’s Best 50 Corporate Citizens by Corporate Knights magazine for six consecutive years. They are our path to sustainability. It’s with their input that we are able to develop innovative programs to support engagement, diversity, ethical practice, and productivity.


In 2015, we:

  • Continued to develop Capital Power as an employer of choice in the markets where we compete for talent.

  • Provided $1.2 million to charitable organizations and programs in communities closest to our operations throughout North America.

  • Achieved our best health and safety performance to date with a combined (employee and contractor) Total Recordable Injury Frequency of 0.10, exceeding our 0.75 target.

  • Launched Blueprint, a new learning management system that gives employees easier access to programming that is essential for success at Capital Power.

  • Volunteered more than 12,000 hours with charities that matter most to our employees and their families. 

  • Prepared for emergency scenarios by participating in a full-scale exercise testing our Crisis Management Plan and Emergency Site Plan for our Island Generation facility.

  • Launched GENerosity, a new matched giving program for employees. In its first year, more than $297k was invested in 134 charities that matter most to our employees.

  • Listened to and had meaningful conversations with our stakeholders on running our operations safely, reliably, and efficiently, while minimizing impacts to the environment and enhancing the community.
