25th Annual Mayor's Celebration of the Arts
The Mayor's Celebration of the Arts honours outstanding Edmonton supporters of the arts and professional artists that excel in their fields.
Capital Power was honoured to be nominated by the Art Gallery of Alberta for a Mayor's Celebration of the Arts Award for Sustained Support of the Arts for our Capital Powered Art series.
This was the 25th year for the awards, presented by Mayor Stephen Mandel and the Professional Arts Coalition of Alberta. The celebration took place April 2, 2012 at the Winspear Centre in Edmonton.
National Philanthropy Day Award
The National Philanthropy Awards are presented annually by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Foundation for Philanthropy. The annual awards celebrate the philanthropic achievements of individuals and organizations in the community.
Capital Power was nominated in both 2011 and 2010 for a National Philanthropy Day Award: in 2010 for its unique Capital PowerED Art program at the Art Gallery of Alberta, and in 2011 for its sponsorship of the University of Alberta’s Festival of Ideas.
Quantum Leap Award
The Quantum Leap Award recognizes an organization that follows United Way best practices, attends orientation sessions, demonstrates spirit and commitment to their campaign and shows significant increases in dollars and participation.
In 2011, Capital Power received the Quantum Leap Award for its campaign in the Edmonton and Genesee Region.
“To be nominated for one of these awards in our first year is an achievement. To win one proves that our employees have dedication, team spirit and passion for contributing to and supporting the well-being of their communities,” said Kate Chisholm, SVP Legal, Regulatory and Government Affairs and United Way Executive Sponsor.
