Transcript from video:
(Brian Vaasjo, President & CEO): Our vision is to become one of the most respected, reliable and competitive power generation companies in North America.

Over the last thousand days, if you look back to what we originally envisioned, we’ve made tremendous progress. We’ve exceeded our targets, our growth profile has been terrific, access to capital has been very good, the progress we’ve made with people in the organization and the kind of culture that we want to have here at Capital Power have all moved along very very well.

(Bryan DeNeve, Senior VP, Commercial Services): The growth that we are pursuing and the projects we’re developing really require tremendous teamwork across all the functional areas and you can see the teamwork over the first 1,000 days has grown, and what I look forward to over the next thousand days is that getting stronger and better.

(Brian Vaasjo): When I look back at the last 1,000 days, what I am really proud of is just how this company has come together.

We’ve been successful in bringing together tremendous assets, wonderful people, terrific strategy, developing a tremendous culture that just sets the platform for the next 1,000 days, which will take us much, much further than we could all imagine.

Disciplined growth

  • About 20% of our growth over the past 1,000 days has been from wind power projects, and one-third from natural gas.
  • In our first 1,000 days, we acquired three natural-gas-powered facilities in the New England region and one in British Columbia.
  • Two North Carolina plants were acquired following the divestiture of our interests in Capital Power Income LP.
  • Construction of Keephills 3 and our Clover Bar Energy Centre was completed, and we started construction on two wind-power projects, with an additional two under development.
  • The new Keephills 3 facility that we built and co-own with TransAlta is the most technologically advanced coal-powered plant on the continent.

Disciplined growth and excellence in operations, backed by financial strength and an investment-grade credit rating. That’s our strategy. And we’re delivering right on target.
