Capital Power has been recognized for the success of its first independent United Way Campaign at the United Way of the Alberta Capital Region’s annual Red Tie Gala and Awards of Distinction with three award nominations.
Capital Power took home the Quantum Leap Award which recognizes an organization that follows the 10 best practices, attends orientation sessions, demonstrates spirit and commitment to their campaign and shows significant increases in dollars and participation.
“To be nominated for one of these awards in our first year is an achievement. To win one proves that our employees have dedication, team spirit and passion for contributing to and supporting the well-being of their communities,” said Kate Chisholm, United Way Executive Sponsor. “As a company, we’re proud to continue to support the United Way as one of the flagship initiatives under our community investment program.”
The evening celebrated the achievements of the 2010 United Way Campaign and the awards recognize outstanding excellence in community.

CPC 2010 United Way Campaign Overview
In October, Capital Power launched a two-week campaign across the company with outstanding results which can be partially attributed to employees located in Edmonton and the Genesee Generating Station. Employees in these areas embraced the campaign raising a combined total of more than $210,000 including employee donations, special events and the corporate match. These funds will contribute to providing much needed financial support to many important community initiatives within the greater Edmonton area including homelessness, early childhood education and support services.
The United Way campaigns could not have been a success without the dedication and support of our volunteer committees and the leadership and direction of our Regional Champions.
