In December 2009, Capital Power entered into a 3-year sponsorship agreement with the Art Gallery of Alberta. The visionary initiative, Capital Powered Art, provides financial support in making world-class art available to Albertans. This partnership demonstrates Capital Power’s commitment to the quality of life for Edmontonians and Albertans.

Over the next three years, Capital Powered Art will bring more than 10 major exhibitions from the National Gallery of Canada to the Art Gallery of Alberta – filling the remarkable new AGA building with year-round programming that will delight local audiences, and raise Edmonton’s national and international profile.  The centerpiece of Capital Powered Art is an ongoing series of exhibitions organized by the National Gallery of Canada, which will bring the national art collection to Alberta.

Capital Powered Art is an investment in the bright cultural future of Edmonton and Alberta – an investment which will generate significant returns to a tremendous number of people from a wide variety of communities.  The exhibitions that Capital Power is sponsoring will help young Edmontonians and Albertans look at their world from different perspectives, and stimulate them to actively engage with different cultures and communities.
