Port Dover and Nanticoke Wind Project

Expanding Ontario’s Renewable Power Generation Potential

In late November 2009, Capital Power acquired the Port Dover and Nanticoke (PDN) Wind Project from Tribute Resources Inc (TSX-V: TRB). The Project, proposed for Haldimand County and Norfolk County, would have the potential to generate between 100 to 110 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy and will be developed through the Ontario Power Authority’s (OPA) recently launched Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) program.

Working with the Community

Capital Power is looking forward to building upon existing stakeholder and community relations for the Project. Our goal is to develop a project that is both environmentally sound and respects the values and interests of the local community.

A Notice of Proposal to Engage in a Project under the Renewable Energy Approvals process has been filed.  The Notice of Proposal to Engage in a Project and information on the December public open houses can be found here.

Environmental Assessment and Public Consultation Process

In September 2009, the Government of Ontario introduced the Renewable Energy Approval (REA) process. Capital Power will undertake an environmental assessment and public consultation process within the REA process, which was initiated for the Project by Tribute Resources Inc. More information on the Ontario REA can be found at http://www.ene.gov.on.ca/en/business/green-energy/.

A draft Project Description Report is now available for download.  Please note that this is a draft report and is subject to change, including information on the preliminary turbine layout which will change based on the results of the environmental studies, turbine selection and public consultation.

Further information about the Port Dover and Nanticoke Wind Project and the timing of the consultation process will appear in local newspapers, by direct mail to residents in the Project Location Area and on this website.
