We’re working hard to create a company defined by a passion for excellence and a commitment to our people, our community, and the environment. We are deeply committed to helping our people achieve and maintain total well-being in both their work and personal lives.

We're focused on creating a healthy culture in which people feel valued for their contributions and are trained, coached and empowered to perform to their highest potential.

We aim to do this by providing the best training, resources and development opportunities and helping our people to be fully engaged, productive and satisfied with their day-to-day work and career potential.

On our way

We’ve been recognized by the United Way of Alberta Capital Region for our United Way campaign, nominated for a National Philanthropy Day Award for our Capital Powered Art program, and recognized as a Top 50 Corporate Citizen by Corporate Knights Magazine.

We’re very proud of our people, who have made all these things possible, and we’re excited about the growing momentum created by our employees.

We know there is a lot more we can do and are confident in the potential of our industry, our employees and our vision. We know that with the right people, the right mindset and the right support, we can lead our industry, generate fulfilling careers and build stronger communities.

Culture of Engagement and Support

Capital Power believes in being an engaged and participating member of the community and in creating an engaged and fulfilling community within the company.

We not only encourage our employees to get involved in the external community, but also celebrate our internal community with regular events throughout the year.

Corporate Challenge

Capital Power looks forward to Corporate Challenge in the Edmonton region each year.

Corporate Challenge encourages a fun, active lifestyle, promotes wellness, and offers an opportunity for employees to connect through teamwork, make new friends, and re-connect with old friends.

Not only does participating in Corporate Challenge strengthen our employee community, it provides us with a fun-filled way to contribute to local charities.

United Way

Capital Power is committed to citizenship through community investment. We work to foster healthy communities through engaging stakeholders, promoting sustainability and addressing the needs of our communities.

We have two internal programs in place to support our employees and their involvement in their communities.

Empowering Communities Volunteer Grant
EmPowering Communities, Capital Power's Employee Volunteer program, encourages employee volunteerism and recognizes the valuable gifts of time, skills and knowledge that many Capital Power employees give to the community.

Employees who volunteer 35 hours or more in a calendar year can apply for a $500  grant to be donated to a nonprofit or charitable community service organization as recommended by that employee.

United Way Days of Caring
Capital Power participates in the United Way Days of Caring program. Throughout the year, groups of employees volunteer their time with community organizations in need of volunteers.

Participation in this program has been inspiring as employees work together to build camaraderie with their colleagues and connections with the community.

Culture of Performance and Recognition

We empower our employees—to make decisions, develop solutions, and own their expertise. We set clear individual and group targets that are visibly consistent with the company’s direction, and we offer incentive programs to align with those targets.

We ensure learning and development opportunities are available, and that we have support in place for our current and future leaders.

Culture of Safety

Capital Power is committed to providing its employees with a safe work environment. Capital Power believes that safety must be managed and incidents are preventable. A zero-injury culture is a primary corporate goal.

Ongoing safety training is mandatory for employees in field or operating positions and crews hold daily safety planning meetings.

We have rolled out safety management systems, updated safety procedures and implemented office safety programs in all our office locations. From our maintenance practices to our office communications, Capital Power nurtures a safe work environment.
