Canadian Centre for Clean Coal/Carbon and Mineral Processing Technologies (C5MPT)
As part of our environmental commitment, Capital Power – along with four industry partners and the Government of Alberta – has agreed to fund a new $21-million teaching and research centre at the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Engineering.
The Canadian Centre for Clean Coal/Carbon and Mineral Processing Technologies (C5MPT) will educate the next generation of clean energy engineers and cultivate new technologies to process minerals, produce clean coal, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“We strongly believe that government, academia and industry must continue to work together. We need to explore options so we can make intelligent, well-informed decisions as we move forward on the path to a smaller carbon footprint,” said Capital Power President and CEO Brian Vaasjo. “Centres like this one help build, improve and enhance research excellence and research capacity. They help our country and our province innovate and ultimately, create jobs and investment.”
